Pandanus occurs as genus containing several species of tree-like plants native to Oceania, sometimes known as screw pines because their hanker, flat leaves grow in the turbinate configuration.
Pandanus leaves come utilized within South-East Asian preparation to add the distinct aroma to rice and curry dishes such as nasi lemak or kaya preserves. It is referred to as pandan leaves (daun pandan around Malay) in Malaysia and æ–‘è˜ [bÄ?n lán] in Singapore.
